Ergonomics (= the natural laws of work) is the study of humans at work, and deals with how people adapt themselves to their working conditions.
One task in ergonomics is the humane design of the workplace (office, factory, household, etc.); another, the development in all areas where people work with machines and tools (vehicles, computers, telephones, etc.) of products that are easy and comfortable to use. Ergonomic product design is therefore about the creation of products that are intuitive to operate and with which people can work without danger. Ergonomics creates the conditions intended to allow for the efficient and error-free performing of tasks, to guarantee workers’ health and their ability to work, and to enhance their quality of life.
