Interface design is a creative discipline dealing with the communication processes between humans and computers, and involving the visual conceptualisation of user interfaces.
Interface designers examine conditions, objectives, and obstacles in the interaction between humans and machines, and optimise the user interfaces. Through appropriate steps, the human user is supposed to be able to optimally and fruitfully operate digital devices and services. The work of interface designers partially overlaps with interaction design, where the usage scenarios of an artefact are researched. Interface designers work in the areas of internet communication and software design, web design, and product design.
