ED1 combines seemingly contradictory qualities. Despite its distinctive and expressive form, it remains harmonious and restrained. It attracts attention without demanding it, allowing the wearer to remain at the center rather than the product itself. Its design balances a contemporary, almost futuristic appearance with the timeless principles of classic eyewear design.

The frame is crafted from acetate, a premium cellulose-based material. The material concept is complemented by titanium hinges and an exceptionally lightweight and durable case made from expanded polypropylene (EPP), partially produced from recycled fishing nets and ropes.

A key innovation lies in the integration of the hinge mechanism. Through a specially developed transition between the frame front and the temples, the externally visible hinge blocks and rivets typically found in acetate eyewear could be eliminated. This results in an exceptionally calm and homogeneous side profile.

This visual harmony is further enhanced by G2-continuous curve transitions, creating smooth surfaces and balanced proportions. The reduced geometry gives the sunglasses a quiet elegance, allowing them to remain lightweight and unobtrusive despite their distinctive size.
