The E.ON Smart Home Device was the first product to translate the design language of algebraic surfaces into product design. Its geometry is derived directly from the mathematical equation
x³ + y³ = (x + y + z)³
which defines a cubic algebraic surface. As a result, the form is not conventionally styled but mathematically generated.
The combination of organic appearance and mathematical precision gives the product a distinctive identity, merging mathematics, technology, and design into a new design language. At the same time, the volumetric enclosure supports the even distribution of sound waves generated by the integrated speakers.
As a central control unit, the E.ON Smart Home Device connects compatible smart home components and enables intuitive interaction through voice control or the circular touch interface positioned on the top surface.
By combining algebraic geometry, intelligent technology, and intuitive user interaction, the product introduced new design impulses to the smart home sector in 2017.
