Milli creates the necessary friction and, at the same time, the largest possible contact surface between mortar and pestle, so that no material residue stays behind. In addition, its dimples are concave and shape inward. They cover a large area and are not very deep. The edges of the dimples are sharply ground, which additionally facilitates the grinding process. Since ceramic is fragile, it is only used on the pestle and in the core area of the mortar and is replaced by silicone in the other areas.
