The use of deformation and force transmission for certain components is of great importance in almost all areas of mechanical engineering and robotics. Up to now, gripper arms or prostheses could only be realized by connecting complex structures and hydraulic motors. These systems are extremely complicated and inflexible. The magnetic transformation structure uses an intelligent and worldwide unique principle to achieve these tasks more simply and at the same time more precisely. Parallel, successive segments are arranged on a flexible material. A metal core is located in the center of each segment. A magnetic field can thus be generated in each individual segment by means of an electric current. Since the segments are only attached to a flexible plate at the bottom side, the magnetic forces generate a torque that bends the plate.
